I know chess shots aren't too original, but I really like the way this came out (especially in how quick it was setup and taken)! the image quality of the shot isn't up to what I would like it to be, but it may be awhile before I can try it again, so I figured I might as well post it.
thanks to my brother for posing for this, as well as helping with the idea!
exposure: 1/60 sec aperture: f2.3 ISO speed: 400 focal length: 50 mm
Great shot, and ben is a great model (how about that finger!), i've never really seen a 'chess' shot before, so it is original for me.
Great Job babe, and I like the shade you gave to it, even though b&w would have been just as nice.
Awesome depth of field and framing. Despite how many chess-shots there may be (just like Onward, I, too, hardly ever see them), this one is really eye-catching. Great job!

Great use of DOF to heighten the viewers attention. Sure chess isn't the most original subject, but I like your take on it. I love the warm tones used here, that and the soft focus just makes me think of a nice relaxing afternoon game of chess. Nice job.
The DOF really is amazing. The piece itself is wonderfully crisp, and combined with the soft outline of your brother... this is an amazing photo! Perfect composition (again, you rock at that!) An all 'round wonderful image.
I can see you brother's finger hair....

How cool is this.. it really brings you into the game, taking away all other distractions. The dark blur at the front seems to frame the shot and Ben's pose (especially in the back) really makes me feel the intensity and tension of a serious chess game. Ahh its intimidating! I love the brownish tone..yeah, amazing job as always Patrick
